I remember posting this image aaaaages ago.

But it's still as lovely to me and relevant as if I'd taken it yesterday. So here it is again.

Festivities - The Commandments

#1. Baked Goods. Preferably made by you.

What actually happened:

I made my recipie for soft honey chew biscuits, and was going to put extra ginger in the recipie to make it gingerbread like. But instead I ran out of honey, substituted golden syrup, and couldnt find the ginger. In fact I dont think the pantry at Dads HAS ginger. Plus I CBF icing them either, so all in all the only thing going for them was their shape, which was awesome cause they tessellated into a snowflake type thing when I put them in my favorite serving dish (actually a pie dish but HUSH YOU.)

They are all gone now :) Might make another batch for the Xmas party with the crafty girls.

I Made Cupcakes

We have a cake roster at uni on Thursdays, this is what I made for my day. As usual I accidentally spilt too much colouring into the icing. Oh well - we all looked cute with our blue tongues.

Super Breakfast and A New Design... Pretty good 24 hours I'd say.

Pretty proud of myself really.

Ages ago I got a trunk of old fabrics and crafting stuff from a family friend, and it got put in the shed while I finished my year at uni, which can get pretty intense (think crying fits from stress, sleep deprivation and an unhealthy relationship with both coffee and certain energy drink). So up until last night I had completely forgotten it was there, and got really excited when I pulled it open and all its treasures were revealed. I felt like a crafty pirate with enviable bounty! But thought it best to start off using the more sedate stuff for my first time trying the lined zipper tutorial from HERE, just in case i messed up big time. Alterations I made to the pattern was I squared the corners to give the pouch volume, and included embellishments during construction as well as after. Turns out I could have used the really nice stuff as it went really well, and was much easier to follow than anticipated. I recommend you give it a go!

And the second part of my pleasantness from this day was from my VERY late brekky. At my mums house there is a great mini orchard down the side of the property, and as luck would have it, this year the birds have completely ignored the fig tree, which has given us possibly the best harvest ever since we arrived 5 years ago. Which means I get snacks during the day, yoghurt/honey/figs for dessert and buttered toast with extra toppings!




Plus a really great cup of Earl, glass of OJ, and leftover sago pudding made from cute little tapioca pearls that were bright green, pink and white from an amasing asian grocer on William Street. Its made with coconut cream, palm sugar and other yummies!

So all in all, a pretty good day.

On a Sunny Crafternoon

Recently, I have taken to having Niina over for playdates, and we get up to all sorts. But I think we have come up with the perfect formula. Craft activity followed by Studio Ghibli movie with the inclusion of hommus, crunchy soy thingies and lavash bread... yuuuuummmmm.

First I taught her to make coin purses (lookie here!)
And then we made wrist pin cushions together via a tutorial of which escapes me at the moment... (Niina let me know wont you?) and the good old teacup ones with some teacups I bought recently at an oppy for 50c each. Good quality printed glass ones at that!

Here's the results of my days work.



I'm not super pleased with my black and white one, its a bit ghetto-fabulous-bling-bling for my tastes, but nevermind. Its just for sticking pins in afterall. Next time I think I will make sure to add some steel wool, it sharpens your pins while they store!
