Etsy Challenge #1 November

Hello!

I must say its lovely to be back, after the long weeks of hard slog at uni. Christmas is gearing up, as is my excitement about getting back into the swing of running my darling little businesses! Keep note this week, as I will be updating my online shops with a whole manner of new and new-to-the-internet designs that I think you'll love (they certainly have a few fans in the market world). I'll also be listing a COLLOSAL amount of vintage over at www.acornsvintage.etsy.com, and I hope you'll be able to find something there that takes your fancy for a Christmas present to yourself or someone else - I'll be sure to preview them here too for a reminder!

Also make sure you pop-over to the facebook page as I'll be running a comp there in the next week for my fans - naming one of my design ranges!

Also very excited about my return to roller derby practice tomorrow night, and the amount of Christmas markets I'll be at!

But now for the real reason for my return - a challenge to all of you with an Etsy store! (myself included...

etsy challenge monthly themes

1. Create an item to one or more of the following themes from Etsy's November merchandising newsletter
2. List on etsy with the tag "merchchallengenov11" and link to your item in the comments of this post
3. Do this by the end of November
4. I'll promote all here on the blog
5. We do it all again for December!

As for me, I'll be choosing the theme of movember! (and can I just say how much i LOVE the marketing and advertising style they're using this year, so so dapper.

Be sure to let me know what you'll be doing in the comments!

Mad Men Architecture Ads #1

During my past 4 years studying architecture, I've had the benefit of reading quite a few 50s/60s era architecture magazines. The adverts are always entertaining/cute, so I thought I'd share one every so often.

This will be my last blog post for a while. I've closed most of my shops, and wont be doing any markets except MOTL and Perth Upmarket. Masters is JUST TOO TIME CONSUMING AND HARD, and I'm really struggling to do much other than do all the shit I have to do now I'm out of home, and all the uni work I have to do, plus sleep. So blogging and OSIER are taking a break, because instead of being a wonderful relaxing fun thing to do, its become an unwonderful stressfull unfun thing to do.

So I'll see you all on June 6th, first Monday of the between semesters uni break.

Sounds like a great idea - I'll be squeezing in lots of crafting before my stall at Angove St Festival this weekend, as part of the Perth Upmarket Pop-Up Market.

See you all there my dears, it's nice to take a break from all the uni hecticness.

Alter Ego - Innerspeaker - Tame Impala

This song is getting me through the last two weeks of my degree.

ONLY 7 DAYS LEFT OMG!

Said the voice from afar
Don't you know it doesn't have to be
so hard?
Waiting for everyone else around
to agree
might take too long...
(might take too long...)

When it won't be so hard
(it won't be so hard)

Well it's true
yes, but you
won't get far
telling me
that you are
all you're meant to be
when the one
from my dream
is sitting right next to me oh
and I don't know what to do

Oh alter ego.

Get them to love you
while they may
depending on your words and wealth
the only one who's really judging you
is yourself.
Nobody else.

If I could part
it wouldn't be so hard.

Well it's true
yes, but you
won't get far
telling me
that you are
all you're meant to be
when the one from my dream
is sitting right next to me
and I don't know what to do.

Oh alter ego.

Listen here.

I Made Cupcakes

We have a cake roster at uni on Thursdays, this is what I made for my day. As usual I accidentally spilt too much colouring into the icing. Oh well - we all looked cute with our blue tongues.

My Architectural Education

Fashion + Architecture = Awesomeness

I love it when my two loves intertwine (for those who are new here, I'm an architecture student) - I've just finished my 950-1500 word essay on wearable technology art, which essentially is art that humans wear that makes a comment on technology.

This is the piece I wrote about;

You can check out more cool things by Studio Orta *over here*

Now that I've shared that with you, I need to get some sleep seeing as its 2.49am and I need to get up at 1/4 to 7...

9 days. 3 assignments. 1 to go.

Then its time to get ready for Perth Upmarket!

Inspiration - 1st June

Ellen Page. Bikes. Heeled Oxfords. Cool Dresses. White Buildings.

Reminds me that I need to fix my freecycle bike (its an indi 500 flamingo.. cool name huh?) have a vintage photoshoot with my acornsvintage dresses and wear my newly aqquired white heeled oxfords. And to relax now that Architecture studies are over for the time being.

Haha, blogged three times in the last 6 hours. Shows you how much I missed it during uni.

Hiatus Hippo

Hi everyone,

Just letting you all know whats going on, and why I've dissapeared.

Turns out Third Year Architecture has very intense periods at times, and now is one of them. So I'll be doing very little in the way of posting either here or on the MOTL blog until things calm the heck down. So apologies :)

I'll leave you with this bunch of awesome however:

A lovely feature on the Gin in a Teacup blog, from her purchase from me at Unwrapped.

And this necklace I found on etsy (which has a sleek new look, not sure I'm a fan though.)

Yes, yes I know I didnt tell you you where I was going.

I was working on my uni stuff and self-imposed a ban on blogging. Sorry I left you all alone, I should have said goodbye. But to make it up to you I'm gonna show you what I've been up to...

Mind you, its only a smidgeon of what I did, but I'll give you an idea:

I designed an Antiques Boutique that inhabits a laneway on Howard Street, If you've ever been to Andaluze Tapas Bar you know the place.

looking down Howard Street to the river.

Interior showing bookshelf, counter and window display recesses.

And this is a long section, but its kind of hard to understand because I hadnt put in my lineweights yet...

So yeah. I'm back, relaxed and ready for the two upcoming markets;

Made on the Left sneak preview at Darlington Arts Festival

and

Made on the Left November Market on the Saturday.

Wooooo!

More at Moose

Hey Everyone.

I drove to uni this morning, already tired from knowing that it was going to be a 10-5 day at uni... and then I get there and all my lectures have been cancelled for some *mysterious* reason, so all I have is one hour of tutorial, which I have to wait around 4 hours for, and I cant go home and come back, because I live an hour away from uni.

I dont know whether to be pleased or peeved.

I can go home two hours earlier than expected, but I have to amuse myself for FOUR HOURS!

I guess I'll post on my blog (hello!), walk to the post office to send an order with my cute new packaging, and work on my collage which is due tomorrow. Eep. I'll let you know how THAT goes.

In other news, the lovely Matt from Moose: Art for Living, has just posted up my latest lot of goodies, it includes a lot of the old favourites like a Christopher Brooch, White Rabbit Ring, and some newies like my new lacey Christopher Brooch, Sweet Story Necklace and some cute one-off peices. Clicky on the pic below to go straight to my page on the site.

Ok, so I've got to go cause my time is up on the computer (I'm in the uni labs) but I have some exciting news to tell you, so I'll be posting again this afternoon!
