New Stuff in Montage

Hey All,

Just thought I'd show you some new stuff that I've put in my pop-up freo store - a very cute selection of my crowd favourite succulents, plus a pile of bunting I've just started making (sooo fun!).

If you cant make it down to the shop, then don't worry, 'cause I'll be taking it all out for one day only this Sunday for the Made on the Left Pop-Up market in the Perth Cultural Centre.

Tomorrow Cancelled

Unfortunately Made on the Left's pop-up market being cancelled/postponed isnt as cute or as funny as cheese-rolling. Its actually pretty sad. But it better than having to battle Bianca, especially as she's known to leave your house looking like a cyclone's hit after she's left.

So I'll let you know when it's been postponed to when I know :) xx Lauren

Benefits

As part of your duties as MOTL member, you may be required to attend hello/goodbye parties when a LARGE number of people leave and arrive in the organisation within a year.

Sigh, the things one must do for the greater good.

See me at : Made on the Left Pops-Up for a Market

See me here;

Art by the very lovely Nicole from Tallrabbit. She's our new graphics wizz over at MOTL, so glad I no longer have to wrestle with it, and that MOTL will be getting the awesome graphics it deserves.

As a side note, I'd love all you readers to perhaps start thinking about donating some time to MOTL. In the next few months we'll be doing a call-out for new committee members, and the more awesome dedicated people we have to choose from the better.

xx Hope to see you at the market... the organisers tell me there will be a vintage carousel... SO SWEET ARGH!

Anyone else?

Anyone else going to Event 101 at Propel/Amplifier tomorrow?

Need a buddy :(

I think there might still be last minute tickets available on the website;

http://www.propel.org.au/projects/amplifier

I'm doing it so I can contribute more to the event side of things at MOTL, cause at the moment I'm a n00b.

Anyway if you'd like to go, buy a ticket on the website and let me know here in the comments so we can hang out :) xx

Handmade Things in a Warm Pub

Oh yes. Sounds like paradise doesn't it?

Well I'm in paradise tomorrow (Saturday) with my OSIER stuffs and will also be helping out at the Made on the Left Promo table on the Sunday morning, I really do hope to see you there.

Plus I have some great new things to show you as well, including this little gem which I am going to name after the person who buys the first ever one made. How exciting!

Hope to see you there! xx Lauren

New Button Creations

The number of things that inspire me is rediculous at times, and I tend to flit to and fro and onto new ideas quicker than I can create. But one of the things I will ALWAYS be inspired by is the materials I work with, and in particular vintage buttons. Their history, charm, and colour always makes me smile, and I can sit for hours just looking, matching colours, and sorting a pile of buttons.

No really, I can! I picked up two jars when I went shopping on Monday, from my local Vinnies, and this is what I've done so far, we'll se how they go at Made On The Left this Saturday...

one-off button necklace 001 5 one-off button brooch 001 7

What do you think? A bit weird? It's a necklace and a brooch, just in case you can't tell :)

Made It gives Made On The Left some Love

Awwww, how sweet.

We at MOTL had a lovely old chat with the crew at Made It, and a lovely interview came out of it... Check it out HERE.

Pre-Market Chaos

This is what my studio looks like at the moment, its an improvement on the usual mess before a market, so I am feeling less stressed about OSIER than usual, and more stressed about organising! As part of my MOTL team duties, I have co-organised our "Sneak Preview" tent at Darlington Arts Festival (tomorrow and Sunday, come along!), and it was a tight finish but we finally have everything organised. Phew!

But yes, the studio (garage) is presently inhabited by piles of fabric, hoards of vintage goodies, unfinished jewellery everywhere, half finished cups of iced coffee, beads, findings, buttons, laser cut bits, unpriced pieces... aaaaaaaah!

Better get to it then instead of blogging about it! Haha!

New Things that are Old

You know how yesterday I was whining about being tired... well I forgot to mention that it was also because I had been to uni, printing poster/sign stuff for Made On The Left in addition to poster bombing AND I also went op-shopping on the way home at my very favourite bunch of op-shops (which I'm going to keep secret, sorry!)

And although I didnt find as much as normal (being tired makes me not see the "potential" of a piece so easily), I came away with items that are probably part of my Top Ten Things I've Found At An Op-Shop.

A beautifull camelia ring that is REALLY good quality and will be easily moulded for future OSIER adventures, and some spunky Art Deco style 80's enamelled earrings!

Oh how I love a good find.

Sad side to the story: There were 12 or so AWESOME orange vinyl stackable dining chairs in the furniture section of one of the shops... for $2 each. I had nowhere to store them and it made me sad that I had to leave them behind. I stood there staring at them and patting them for a good minute or so trying to justify buying them, but I just couldnt do it. I cant wait to decorate my home with op-shop finds when I move out. Maybe by the time that happens the set will have found its way back to the op-shop again, albeit with a few more knicks and bumps. Who knows.

MOTL design competition

Head over to the MOTL blog for an exciting design opportunity with nifty prizes!

Treasure, me Hearties! Volume 3

Yay! More press, and this time its from a fellow Aussie etsy seller, Penny from Pocket Carnival. Her illustrations are so sweet, and beautifully simple, but so well done... I'd had my eye on one of her items for a while, and so I decided that I'd treat myself.... Look!

Isn't it sweet? And I know I don't need another brooch but *I dont care*, its just too cute to give up.

Ok, back to the press.

She made a lovely treasury of Australian etsy sellers and ever-so-nicely included my Christopher Print Purse! Clicky on it to see all the great Australian-y details!

Ok, gotta go make up the info pack for Made On The Left Sneak Preview at Darlington Arts Festival (this weekend coming, see MOTL website for details) as part of my Made On The Left team duties!

Made on the Left : The Customer

So yeah, you all know I sold at the recent Made on the Left Market, but did you know I also had to restrain myself from buying everything else on the day? Maybe you do, maybe you dont, but this is what I end up with:

Brooches from Niina Aoki
Love and Hate zine from Niina Aoki (featuring her plus 5 other Aussie illustrators)
Badges are extras from Love and Hate zine
Just Another Post Apocolypse Story Comic from Monster and Robot Industries

I know! I was so good wasn't I? I hardly bought anything at all!

... well, alright, I'll admit to some upcoming custom orders I'm going to get from Tea for Bini and Odd Girl Out, I'll show you those later. But thats it, I swear :)

xoLauren

p.s. 'Made on the Left: The Seller' post is coming as soon as I can get some decent pics... my camera is pretty much a dinky toy when it comes to taking indoor photos where there isn't much light.

MOTL + Blog Feature = Yay!

I'll be posting about the Market in a couple of days time, but in the meanwhile my Snowfake Purse has been featured in a lovely blog by Tali. She lives in Tel Aviv in Israel, and takes beautiful photos...

Make yourself a cup of tea, take a look, post a comment, enjoy!

Osier in the Press!

So last Wednesday I went into my local rags headquarters and smiled and posed and smiled and posed and met Rebecca from Glass Candy, another Hills artist, and together we got this:

clicky to see it big and read all the wordy-words. :)
