So much in a flutter that I convinced myself that I would look vintage-vixen in a playsuit, ordered one from etsy and favorited a whole lot more... I guess I'll see if I was right when it arrives huh? You might get an eyeful if you're lucky.
Its what happens when you go shopping at half past two in the morning eh?
The jealously monster has struck with force this week as I struggle to find the enthusiam to dye my hair or go to the hairdresser in the frenzy of getting ready for Christmas, all the while pining longingly for straight hair so that I may partake in the awesomeness that is a pixie cut... I have to say that this jealously was spawned not only by my crappy brown-ornage-blonde grownout fringe, but by Peta's awesome pixie-cut... so instead of doing anything about my jealously, I sinfully wallowed in it, by making a collage of google images...
Hmmmm, I'm thinking of dropping my Yen subscription for a Peppermint subscription instead... Two issues left on my Yen subscription, and just signed up for a year of Peppermint. So far the only other mag I subscribe is Frankie...
Yay! More press, and this time its from a fellow Aussie etsy seller, Penny from Pocket Carnival. Her illustrations are so sweet, and beautifully simple, but so well done... I'd had my eye on one of her items for a while, and so I decided that I'd treat myself.... Look!
Isn't it sweet? And I know I don't need another brooch but *I dont care*, its just too cute to give up.
Ok, back to the press.
She made a lovely treasury of Australian etsy sellers and ever-so-nicely included my Christopher Print Purse! Clicky on it to see all the great Australian-y details!
Ok, gotta go make up the info pack for Made On The Left Sneak Preview at Darlington Arts Festival (this weekend coming, see MOTL website for details) as part of my Made On The Left team duties!
So cute I am still making little squealing noises. Look at it's little mouth, and its tiny spikes, and its pink feet, and its tiny but big ears, and its black shiny eyes, andandandand...
Go on, you know you want to squeal too in my comments!
I love the whimsical quality of birch trees, and how they look near buildings. Renzo Piano actually used them in a courtyard with moss hills in the new-ish New York Times building, my heart nearly stopped it looked so pretty..
And then one of the artists featured in Frankie, Erin Paisley, used them in one of her artworks, along with another emblem of great whimsy, the red fox...
But what really inspired this post was an Australian designer collaborative Ink & Spindle who create the most beautiful fabric; Tegan, Bianca & Lara...
Oh how I wish I had enough money that spending $295 USD on a single peice of clothing was even remotely justified.
It has all the credentials of a great coat:
red. handmade. thick fabric so I can be toasty. NOT polar fleece (that stuff is almost as bad as crocs), it is instead wool, which is excellent. high collar. big buttons.
Plus some cool extras like puffed shoulders and a big slouchy hood. The only gripes I have are its not belted (with my figure I need a belt or else I end up looking like I have a bun in the oven), and that the pockets are a little weird-io.
So for now it looks like I'll have to make do with my Nanna's vintage red coat and alter it. I'll show you before and after pics later shall I?
But first comes ....folio.
I've got knots in my stomach just THINKING about it.
want - yes. need - maybe. what do you think?i can fit "osier.com.au", "handmade" and "pipandemily" have - no, sadly. maybe when i get a few more sales.
